Ahmedabad: Self-styled godman Asaram has been sent to police custody in a sexual assault case in Ahmedabad. He was produced before a special judge in Gandhinagar on Tuesday in connection the case.
Asaram was earlier grilled by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Ahmedabad on Monday. He is being probed in connection with the sexual assault case lodged by two Surat-based sisters.
The Surat Police had recently registered complaints filed by two sisters - one against Asaram and another against his son Narayan Sai - of rape, sexual assault, illegal confinement and other charges. The complaint against Asaram was transferred to Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad as the incident took place in Asaram's ashram.
