London: Pippa Lewis is said to be the first British baby of 2011.
According to her parents, Pippa was born just 10 seconds after midnight and fireworks marking the New Year were heard in the delivery suite as the six pound baby was born by emergency caesarean, 'The Sun' reported.
22-year-old father, Chris Lewis, said: "She's got to be the first baby of 2011. Staff told me later the fireworks and chimes on the town hall clock could be heard."
Mother Rebeka Bibby, 23, arrived at hospital early on New Year's Eve after going into labour sooner than expected.
Electrical engineer Chris of Leeds said: "She was in labour all day long and then there were complications so it had to be an emergency caesarean. We were both delighted that everything went smoothly. Pippa's a beautiful little girl."
