Parents of the girl taken into custody

KOCHI: The Paravoor police have taken the parents of the minor girl involved in the Varapuzha sex scam into custody. Two persons along with the girl were arrested from a rented house in Varapuzha last week. The parents were taken into custody for questioning, but no case has been registered yet, investigating officer, Circle Inspector K G Babu Kumar said. The police had arrested two persons along with the girl on Thursday. The girl told the police that her mother had sold her for `1 lakh to Shobha John, in Thiruvananthapuram last year. Police said that the questioning is continuing and arrest will be made by tomorrow. The police is also attempting to track the first accused in the case, Shobha John,  who is absconding.
