Pak commission on Osama summons Haqqani
Husain Haqqani was asked by the Zardari to resign after he was linked to a secret memo sent to the US military.

Islamabad: A Pakistani judicial commission investigating Osama bin Laden's presence in the country on Monday summoned former ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani to appear before it on December 14.

Haqqani was asked to appear before the panel chaired by former Supreme Court judge Javed Iqbal.

The commission will also record the statement of senior PML-N leader Khwaja Asif at the same meeting.

Geo News channel quoted its sources as saying that the panel decided to summon Haqqani following a request from Asif.

Haqqani was recently asked by the Prime Minister to resign after he was linked to a secret memo sent to the US military seeking help to prevent a possible takeover by the Pakistan Army in the wake of the US raid that killed bin Laden on May 2.

The judicial commission has been tasked by the government to probe how bin Laden's presence in Pakistan went undetected for almost five years, the circumstances of the US raid and any security lapses that may have occurred on the day of the raid, and to make recommendations based on its findings.
