DS Mathur told CBI that Raja gave licence to at least nine operators.

New Delhi: Former telecom secretary DS Mathur, while deposing before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the 2G spectrum scam case, claimed there was no transparency in former telecom minister A Raja's proposals and accused him of giving licence to at least nine operators.

In his statement made before the CBI on Friday in the ongoing 2G spectrum scam investigation, Mathur claimed that he had refused to give sanction to Raja's 2G proposals.

However, Raja was adamant on giving licence to at least nine operators and wanted Mathur to agree to his proposals and sign on the dotted line, said the Former telecom secretary, who became the first person to depose against Raja.

The CBI has already sent a notice on December 17 to Raja to come for questioning within a week. The DMK leader, who is in Chennai, was served notice at his official residence under Section 160 of Criminal Procedure Code to appear before the agency for questioning.

He will be questioned on the evidence found in the preliminary investigations.

Raja's residences in Chennai and Delhi have already been raided by the CBI in connection with 2G scam. The CBI had also raided DMK MP Kanimozhi's aides in connection with the scam.

But the investigating agency is yet to register any FIR against Raja.
