RLD chief and Civil Aviation minister Ajit Singh on Tuesday alleged that the Muzaffarnagar riots were a conspiracy of BJP and SP. "The Muzaffarnagar riots were political riots.
It was a conspiracy of BJP and SP," he said. Singh claimed that some anti-government Panchayats were given a communal colour. "Some Panchayats, which were anti-government, were given the face of conflict between two communities," he said while addressing a meeting of Muslim leaders in Baghpat district.
He emphasised on the need to develop goodwill between the communities. Expressing concern about the law and order situation in the state, RLD General Secretary and MP Jayant Chaudhary said BJP and SP were "opportunistic" and involved in "disturbing the social fabric of the country."
For development to take place, hard work was required, not fights and quarrels, he said. Chaudhary called upon the poor, farmers and the youth to participate in the 'Sankalp rally' being held in Agra on January 30.
