Mumbai: After women police officers were caught on camera thrashing a young woman, Mumbai Police on Monday initiated an inquiry in the case.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also sought a report on the incident. "We have called for a report from the police within 48 hours. In these 48 hours, we will also ensure that action is taken if anybody is found to be guilty. This is a very serious incident and we will ensure that no person who is guilty of manhandling is spared," Fadnavis said.

A woman was mercilessly beaten up by female constables as she tried to enter the pandal at the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati through the VIP gate. The video of Mumbai Police beating the woman has gone viral. It is unclear as to when did the incident took place.
