Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Wednesday advised protestors to be cautious while expressing their anger against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa over the Cauvery issue.
At a function to felicitate former Kuvempu University vice-chancellor Chidananda Gowda and litterateur Dharanidevi Malagatti at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), he said: “One should be cautious while commenting on the verdict. A wrong step may put the state in a tight spot while arguing in the Supreme Court.”
At a meeting in Hassan also, Gowda: “It is unfortunate that a section of politicians who lack knowledge about the issue has been giving different statements. The Cauvery dispute is a sensitive matter and should not be debated in public, but can be solved through negotiation and dialogues.”
Meanwhile, Cauvery protests entered its 14th day in Mandya. Kannada Development Authority chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru took part in the protest on Wednesday.
Vishwakarma Sangha members symbolically donated blood at the district hospital to send a strong message that Kannadigas are ready to give blood but not water.
