Delhi Police have issued 'lookout notices' for witnesses in the Jessica Lall murder case.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have issued 'lookout notices' for witnesses in the Jessica Lall murder case. The move is to ensure that the witnesses are prevented from leaving the country.

The police say notices have been issued to all those needed for investigation in the case, including the main accused Manu Sharma. Socialite Bina Ramani and her fashion designer daughter Malini Ramani have also received notices. None of them can leave the country now without police permission.

"Yes, we have issued it," Special Commissioner of Police (Intelligence) U K Katna said when asked whether police had issued lookout notices in connection with the case.

He said notices were issued for all those required for investigation in the case.

A trial court had last month acquitted all nine accused, including Manu Sharma, former Rajya Sabha MP D P Yadav's son Vikas of all charges in the murder.

The acquittal triggered public outrage, following which Delhi Police filed an appeal in the High Court on Monday.

Police have also filed a new case of criminal conspiracy in the destruction and fabrication of evidence in the investigation of the case

Lall was allegedly shot dead by Manu Sharma at the Tamarind Court, a restaurant owned by socialite Bina Ramani at the Qutub Colonnade in south Delhi on the night of April 29-30, 1999.

On March 6, Police Commissioner K K Paul named a special team under Katna to investigate the case as a 'lot of material' had come up in the aftermath of the judgment and the media, which have created 'lots of doubt' about the original probe.
