TIRUPATI: Though the Election Commission is yet to issue notification for the byelections for Tirupati MLA seat, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy seems to be busy trying to get his party into the goodbooks of citizens.The chief minister, who visited the temple town on Sunday, showered sops on the Tirupati Assembly constituency, which is up for bypolls following former MLA K Chiranjeevi resigning his seat.Announcing the state-wide launch of the Centre-sponsered Swavalamban pension scheme meant for the workers of unorganised sectors at a Mee Kosam Mukhyamantri programme, the chief minister said that though it has been limited to the construction workers till date, the ambit of the scheme would be widened soon.“The scheme would cover the domestic helps, rickshaw pullers, auto and taxiwalls and everyone in the unorganised sector at the earliest,” he said and directed the officials to see that necessary paper works is completed at the earliest.Swavalamban meant to provide the health insurance and other benefits to the unorganised workers was introduced in three districts of the state three years ago on pilot basis. Chief Minister said he would supposed to introduce the programme much earlier, but it got delayed due to launch `1 -rice-rice, Mee Seva and others, all launched from Tirupati.
