Katha cremated with State honours

ALAPPUZHA: The body of Katha alias Kamalakshi Amma, wife of the late Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, was consigned to flames with state honours at her house at Thakazhi on Friday.The pyre, made near the tomb of Thakazhi, was lit by her son Balakrishnan Nair in the presence of her relatives and a large number of people. The state government was represented by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Minister for Welfare of Backward Communities P K Jayalakshmi, Transport and Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar, Rural Development Minister K C Joseph and Speaker G Karthikeyan.
