Understanding of god

God is everything — from love to light. He is omnipresent. I come from a family of staunch Vaishnavites, and I firmly believe that god is the supreme power. Any good deed done without expecting some sort of a reciprocation, is exhibiting an act that comes straight from god.

Spiritual beliefs

My spiritual beliefs are internal and personal. I have had bad phases in my life every time I questioned god’s existence. On the other hand, there have been exceptionally good moments, when I have believed in him and thanked him with all my heart.

Spiritual practices

I pray every day. My mother, even today, goes to the puja room after taking a shower and performs little rituals which bring her peace. Only after spending time at the puja room does she begin her day. Likewise, I also make sure I do not step out of the house without receiving god’s blessings by chanting a small prayer. This is something I do, no matter how much of a rush I am in.

Pilgrimage sites My mother is an ardent believer in god and has visited most of the temples in South India. I have accompanied her on most of the trips and have enjoyed the experience very much. I feel at ease and connect to god whenever I visit the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai. This is easily my favourite religious retreat.

Take on miracle

Each day is a miracle. I thank god every morning. I thank him for keeping me healthy. I thank him for giving me the energy to do my day’s work. I thank him for helping me return home safe.
