BHUBANESWAR: Governor MC Bhandare on Saturday talked how he benefited from the Vedic mantras and how chanting them is beneficial for well-being of individuals. He was inaugurating the ‘National Conference on Samaveda’, organised by Academy of Yoga and Oriental Studies (AYOS) here. Bhandare appreciated the efforts of AYOS and said, “Every time I come to the conference, it benefits me immensely in broadening my knowledge of our ancient scriptures.” Samaveda is a collection of spiritual hymns. He also went on to explain how the Vedic mantras have a positive effect on mind, body and soul. The conference will have 15 academic sessions and a few parallel sessions in two days. Important topics pertaining to Samaveda like ‘Samaveda and Indian Classical Music’, ‘Meditation in the Light of Samaveda’, Samavedic Brahmins and the Prescription of Prayaschita’ and much more will be discussed. Professors, readers, lecturers and scholars, specialising in the field will debate benefits and various aspects of Samaveda. AYOS Director Indulata Das spoke. AYOS organised the seminar at OUAT to mark the sixth anniversary of its formation.
