Gold worth Rs 4.5 crore seized at Kochi Airport

NEDUMBASSERY:  In a major seizure, the Income Tax personnel on Wednesday unearthed diamond-studded gold jewellery worth `4.5 crore and nabbed two passengers who reached Kochi International Airport from Mumbai. The jewellery was brought without proper documents.The passengers were identified as P Mehta and A Shaw of Gujarat. They are suspected to be suppliers of jewels to various jewellery shops in Kerala. However, the Income Tax personnel released the passengers after questioning them.  But the seized jewellery was taken for further examination. The raid was carried out by the Income Tax personnel following an anonymous call,  sources said.
