Some unidentified gunmen on Wednesday morning opened fire at a murder accused in Gurgaon, which led to the death of at least one person.
According to reports, while no person was killed due to the firing by the assailants, one died in an accident that followed the attack.
The incident occurred at MG Road in Gurgaon. Police suspect it to be a case of gang rivalry.
The incident happened at around 9 am when the SUV was travelling towards Delhi on MG Road. The vehicle reportedly had two occupants – driver Hansraj and the suspected target of the attack, Rakesh.
As many as five men reportedly came out of the Santro car that intercepted the SUV and repeatedly fired shots. The driver of the vehicle suffered bullet injuries, and lost control, following which the SUV turned turtle and landed on an auto rickshaw.
The auto rickshaw driver died at the spot while the assailants then fled towards Delhi.
The cause of the attack is suspected to be old rivalry between Rakesh's gang and one Neeraj Bhandi. Rakesh is a prime suspect in the murder case of Neeraj's gang member.
