CHENNAI: The Special Court for CBI cases in Chennai has directed the CBI to register a case on a complaint against Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) chairman and managing director AR Ansari, which alleged that he had caused heavy loss to the exchequer and the NLC to the tune of Rs 10,000 crores.Principal Judge L Yusuf Ali gave the direction, while taking on file a complaint from M Selvaraj, president of NLC Workers Solidarity Union, on July 4.Selvaraj alleged that the CMD and the Board of Directors were responsible for carrying out and discharging the daily activities including financial activties of the NLC. On the contrary, the annual reports and balance-sheets were concocted, manipulated, forged and cooked up. The supplementary sheet would ex-facie illustrate the primary fact that the accused had in fact acted contrary to the public interest with mala fide intention to cause wrongful loss to the public exchequer and also to the Corporation. They had abused their power, the complaint further alleged.
