Kolkata: The Election Commission will conduct the six-phase West Bengal assembly polls on the 'Bihar Model' for free and fair elections, Deputy Chief Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi said on Monday.
"The Assembly elections will be held in West Bengal on the Bihar model," Zutshi told reporters after a meeting with district authorities of South and North 24 Parganas and Kolkata at Alipore, near here.
District magistrates, SPs and other senior police officers were present at the meeting which reviewed the law and order situation and the poll preparedness.
Zutshi said the EC will meet representatives of all parties on March nine to discuss campaign-related expenses.
Besides Zutshi, the Joint Chief Electoral Officer from Rajasthan P K Gupta also briefed the officials. The meet was also attended by the CEO, West Bengal.
Elections will be held on April 18, 23, 27, May 3, 7 and 10 in West Bengal.
