THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On Monday morning, residents and shopkeepers on Padmavilasom Road were greeted by the sight of workers mending a burst drainage pipe plump in the middle of the road. The underground pipe had been spewing out waste water ever since 7 pm on Saturday. ‘’The work, which began at 9 am on Monday, is expected to be over by evening, as a section of the drain is being replaced,’’ said Santhosh S K, secretary of the Padma Nagar Residents’ Association. According to the local people, bursts on this section of the drainage have been a regular affair for the past two months. In fact, the latest burst occurred right after a repair on Saturday evening. The water leaked throughout Saturday night, Sunday and well into Monday morning before the repair crew appeared on the scene.
