CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa condoling the death of legendary actor Dev Anand, terming him a true patriot.In a statement, she said the hero’s career spanned six decades in the industry.“The universally popular ever-green hero of Hum Dono, Kala Pani, Guide and so many other much acclaimed movies, was the epitome of Indian pride and sensibility,” she said and added, “Having many box office hits to his credit, almost all his films like Ziddi, Hum Dono, Baazi, Kala Pani, Tere Ghar Ke Samne are memorable.”“He was a multi-faceted personality and every role he played created an impact on the minds of viewers.He lived life to the full and was known above all as a good human being,” she said.Calling him as a versatile actor, Jayalalithaa said he charted his own course on the silver screen and was an institution by himself and his footprints on Indian cinema are indelible.The actor had won several national and international awards and his movies are noteworthy for the melodious songs which are still popular, Jayalalithaa observed.“In his passing away, India has lost a great actor, an illustrious son, and a true patriot. His demise is an irreparable loss to the film industry and the nation. Dev Anand’s death has left a void that can never be filled,” she said and expressed her condolences to his family.
