New Delhi: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma doesn't seem happy with Sanjay Dutt, who is among the lead actors in his latest film 'Department'. The director isn't shy of being vocal about his dislike for Sanjay Dutt. Varma writes on micro blogging site Twitter,"Whatever else happening to Department I am supremley happy tht I don't nd 2 see the faces of Sanjay dutt nd Dharam uberoi fr rest of my life."
Dharam Uberoi is a film producer and the CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions, and has been associated with films such as 'Plan' and 'Dus Kahaniyaan' in the past.
Apparently the director is miffed about Sanjay Dutt's intervention in his filmmaking process. RGV tweets,"Frm forcing me 2 take kangana out of the film 2 constantly cornering me 2 change screenplay I had the most horrible time wrking wth dutt."
It's not a daily thing for filmmakers to bring their spats to full public view. Varma doesn't stop here only. He goes on to write,"If Dutt n uberoi think I am the bad in Dept let's wait for zilla ghaziabad nd sohams film whr I am not there 2 spoil their creative inputs."
Sanjay Dutt also went public with his displeasure with RGV's attitude. He openly said in media that he is not very sure whether he will again work with Ramu or not.
Despite a good publicity drive, 'Department' has not received favourable reviews from the critics as well as the audiences. The film is expected to lose a major part of its production cost.
Ram Gopal Varma had earlier lashed out on critics too in his open letter 'I Love You Too'. He had written,"I am not surprised at the hatred of some towards 'Department' for the reason that when you do anything completely different from a beaten path many tend to pounce upon you with claws and knives. When Oliver Stone made 'Natural Born Killers' most reviewers said it's a piece of visual crap, exhibitionistic, he lost his head etc., which then in the later years came to be recognized as a cult classic. When DW Griffith cut to a close up they said how can a man be shown cut in half and when the camera moved in a Georges Melies film they said how can a point of view suddenly move."
He didn't stop before saying,"Anyways the norm of critics these days is to bury the baby even before its born and kill the mother for giving it birth. It's incredible to see the sadistic glee they take in running the Director down on a personal level even more than they run down the Film."
"They accuse me of chaotic self-indulgence. I don't know what that is but a Film eventually is a self expression of a subject matter which I as a maker chose to tell in a certain style and in Department I chose a graphic pattern in terms of angles and movements which were intended to represent the mindsets of the characters the film is dealing with," wrote Varma.
Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor, the director of 'Rock On' and 'Aryan' chose to defend RGV against the critics. He wrote on Twitter,"@RGVzoomin critics& the wrld r havin a field day slamin ths man,I hve a lot of respct 4 him. He's nt a hypocrit,wat a relief in ths industry."
He may have his reasons for being at loggerheads with Sanjay Dutt, but the audiences still expect Ram Gopal Varma to come up with pathbreaking films such as 'Shiva', 'Satya', 'Rangeela', 'Company', and 'Sarkar'.
