Daylight robbery in Ayurveda resort

VIZHINJAM: In a shocking incident, the owner of an ayurvedic resort and his staff were robbed of their valuables worth Rs 2.5 lakh in broad daylight at the resort near Somatheeram. The operation was performed by a five-member team which came in a black Alto car on Tuesday afternoon.  According to the police, the gang brandished swords at the owner Soma Panicker and snatched his gold chain weighing nine sovereigns. `4,000 kept in the counter, a Rado watch and  his mobile phone were forcefully taken away by the assailants. The armed gang also assaulted   two staff members and escaped with their mobile phones.
