Congress rally to seek disbursement of funds

PUDUCHERRY: Congress will conduct a rally here on Monday for various demands, including immediate disbursement of cyclone relief.The party, in a five-point charter of demands to the government, has sought rollback of enhancement of Value Added Tax, reinstatement of around 4,000 workers, waiver of agricultural loans and improvement of law and order situation. Leader of the opposition V Vaithilingam said that the Central government had already released Rs 125 crore as interim relief but has not been able to distribute it.“There was no point in enhancing tax for mobilising greater revenue unless the government is able to collect the dues,” said Vaithilingam.
