New Delhi: CNN-IBN swept the News Television Awards on Wednesday night, winning as many as nine awards, including the honours for the Best News Channel of the Year.
CNN-IBN Editor in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai was named the Newsmaker of the Year while its website IBNlive.com was adjudged the Best News Channel Website. The News Television Awards for excellence in TV journalism were presented in New Delhi under the aegis of Indiantelevision.com.
India at 9, CNN-IBN's prime-time round-up of news, won the award for Best Daily Newscast while the channel's tribute to war heroes - Missing in Action - won for Best News Documentary Award.
CNN-IBN was also conferred the Best Investigative Reporting Award for the series titled I am Subba, which had exposed Lok Sabka MP MK Subba's nationality problems.
In a tribute to CNN-IBN's citizen journalist initiative, the special citizen journalist show called Axe the Tax was adjudged the Best Business News Show of the Year.
In individual categories, Meha Bhardwaj was selected the Best Sports News Presenter while Rudraneil Sengupta won the Award for Best Sports Reporting for his coverage of the FIFA World Cup in Germany.
