CHENNAI: Chennaiites may have enjoyed some respite from the scorching sun on Thursday as cloudy weather set in by late afternoon but not for long – the weatherman predicts hot days ahead with temperatures at least five degrees above normal. Attributing Thursday’s cool weather to the late onset of sea breeze, deputy director general of meteorology Y E A Raj told Express that the sea breeze had set in at 1.45 pm while it set in at 12.30 pm on Wednesday. He also noted that hot air coming from the North West was another reason for the high temperature that prevailed upto Thursday afternoon. “Generally, the second week of May will be the hottest week and temperature will rise above the normal (35-36 degrees) by around five degrees” he said.
