THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The state will urge the Centre to revise the guidelines for effective implementation of  Centrally-sponsored schemes in tune with the regional needs. The move to adopt the stance followed discussions at the MPs’ meet convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Thursday, prior to the Budget session of  Parliament. The meet felt that the norms and guidelines for the implementation of Prime Minister’s Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Generation Programme (MGREGP) needed a change. In the case of MGREGP, the sectors of fish production, coir, dairying, eco development activities and agriculture should be included.  Avenues for jobs all round the year in the agriculture sector should be ensured, the meeting felt.In the case of PMGSY, the meeting felt that the state should be able to cover at least 2,000 km of roads and a special package was needed for this purpose, Rural Development Minister K C Joseph said. The Chief Minister presented a detailed wish list of the state on the development front, already presented to the Centre. Ministers K M Mani, Aryadan Mohammed,P K Kunhalikutty, K P Mohanan, A P Anil Kumar, Shibu Baby John, V S Sivakumar, K B Ganesh Kumar and K Babu, MPs Shashi Tharoor, M B Rajesh, T N Seema, M P Achuthan, M K Ragahavan, K E Ismail, E T Mohammed Basheer, A Sampath, M I Shanavaz, K P Dhanapalan, Charles Dias and N  Peethambara Kurup attended.
