CAT notice to Gautam Kumar

HYDERABAD: The Central Administration Tribunal (CAT) on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to P Gautam Kumar,  principal secretary, Home seeking an explanation on his averments made in writ petition filed in Andhra Pradesh high court on the appointment of V Dinesh Reddy as director general of police. Later, the tribunal posted the hearing on the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as DGP to March 29. The advocate general, A Sudarshan Reddy suggested to the tribunal, to issue a notice to Gautam Kumar’s council J Sudheer asking for an explanation on his averments made in writ petition filed in the high court against the government, on appointment of Dinesh Reddy as DGP. Allowing the advocate general’s suggestion, the tribunal issued a show cause notice to Gautam Kumar and asked him to provide an explanation by March 29. Senior IPS officer, P Gautam Kumar on July 8, 2011 had filed a petition in the central administrative tribunal challenging the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as DGP. Earlier, the tribunal also sought an unconditional apology from Gautam Kumar in making averments on the tribunal in connection with the hearing of a plea filed by him, challenging Dinesh Reddy’s appointment as AP DGP. Gautam Kumar is presently away in the USA on a personal visit.
