VISAKHAPATNAM: Taking a serious note of a corporal punishment inflicted on a Class IV student by the principal of a school here, the State Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to district collector Lav Agarwal to submit a report on the issue. The district education officer has ordered the school to be shut immediately after finding out that it was running without government recognition.Following the SHRC directive collector Lav Agarwal has ordered the district education officer to submit a report within two days.MSM School has government recognition to run a school at Akkayyapalem in the city, its management was running the second school illegally at Muralinagar. The students of the school scheduled to appear for Class X exam from March 22 have registered their names through the Akkayyapalem school, it is learnt.Three cases have been registered against the school at V Town police station, one for running the school without government recognition, two for conducting classes during holidays and third is against the principal inflicting corporal punishment on a Class IV student, district education officer G Madhusudhana Rao told Express. He said he would be submitting a report to the collector on the issue and added that the students appearing for the examinations would not affected as the school is running in the name of the Akkayyapalem branch.The future of the students would be decided in due course, they would be sent to another recognised school. The police have produced principal of MSM High School Muralinagar, MSN Murthy, in court and he has been remanded in custody.
