HUBLI: It is hard to believe that a dead man could come back to his house and surprise his family members, but it happened in Hubli on Monday morning.Basavaraj Pampanna Butta, 48, a resident of Nekarnagar in Hubli, had gone to Bangalore a month ago, with Rs 650 in hand, without informing anyone at home and did not contact his family members at all.On August 5, the police found a dead body floating in Unkal lake in the city. The body was decomposed and beyond recognition. However, the family members of Basavaraj, who had registered a case, were called to recognized the body.Much to their agony, the dead person had six toes on his left leg, based on which the family members recognised him.The family members were astonished to see Basavaraj alive and were in great jubilation on Thursday. Lakshmi, his wife, his children Jyothi Kavita and Pampapati and mother Basamma expressed their happiness and said, “Now that he has come alive, I am very happy.” Basavaraj said, he had been to Bangalore in search of a job and was unable to contact his family members and only managed to return after somebody helped him.However, with Basavaraj’s return, another question arises. That of the identity of the person who was buried earlier. The police now have a job to ascertain the identity of the buried person.
