New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have been bonding on social media platform Twitter. PM on Thursday appreciated Abdullah for taking up the broom and cleaning a street in Srinagar, saying it was a "wonderful effort" which will strengthen the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign.
"Wonderful effort by @abdullah_omar ! His efforts towards Swachh Bharat will inspire people of J&K and will strengthen the Mission," Modi tweeted.
To which Omar replied, "Thank you for the mention. I hope we can actually all contribute to cleaning India. Happy to do my bit to help."
Omar Abdullah had on Thursday night joined Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) officials in cleaning the flood-hit areas of the city as part of the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.
Using brooms, Omar and SMC Commissioner GN Qasba swept the road in Weir Nagar, one of the worst-hit areas in the recent flood.
Omar had earlier thanked Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for nominating him to the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' launched by Modi earlier this month.
"Thanks for the nomination @BeingSalmanKhan. Watch this space for my contribution and the names of the 9 (persons) I will have to nominate," Omar wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
