HYDERABAD: The State government on Thursday revived the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board and appointed Narsapuram MP Kanumuri Bapi Raju as its chairman. The move came two days after the TTD specified authority’s term expired. The new trust board will have three legislators and three officials as members and a notification in this regard is likely to be issued in a day or two.Though the term of the specified authority, chaired by Principal Secretary J Satyanarayana, expired on Aug 23, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy kept the issue pending leading to speculation over the restoration of the trust board.A few, including MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and film producer Allu Aravind, initially appeared to be in the race for the coveted post of the TTD chairman. But the Chief Minister preferred Bapi Raju whose name cropped up as a dark horse this afternoon.Sources said Kiran Kumar Reddy wanted to appoint a person with a clean image as the TTD chairman to avoid opposition from other leaders in the party.Bapi Raju is known as a non-controversial leader and had served as a TTD board member.
