Lucknow: Days after the horrific Bulandshahr rape incident, a school teacher was raped and filmed on gunpoint near Delhi-Lucknow NH24 at CB Ganj area in Bareilly on Tuesday early morning.
The incident took place when the victim, a teacher by profession, was on her way to a private school in the morning.
When she reached Kadaua (link road near NH24), three men in a car intercepted and forcibly dragged her inside the vehicle. Before she could raise an alarm, the men drove the car towards a secluded place in CB Ganj area where they took turns to rape her at gunpoint.
While committing the crime, the miscreants took nude pictures of the victim and threatened her with dire consequences if she reports the matter to the police. The woman was later dumped on the national highway after an hour.
Somehow she reached home and narrated the whole ordeal to her family members. A police complaint was lodged and a team of policemen rushed to the spot to probe the incident.
The Uttar Pradesh Police which is under severe criticism for rising crime and rape incidents in the state launched a massive operation to arrest the culprits. "An FIR has been filed against three unidentified men. We are hopeful that they will be arrested soon," sources in the police department.
Meanwhile, Inspector general (Bareilly zone) Vijay Singh Meena ordered a departmental inquiry and suspended the in-charge of CB Ganj police station Rakesh Gupta for dereliction of duty.
The incident comes four days after the horrific gang rape of a mother and her teenage daughter on NH91 in Bulandshahr.
Uttar Pradesh police may claim they have ramped up patrol along the highways following the horrific Bulandshahr gang rape, but a ground reality check by CNN-News 18's team along the highway in Meerut on Monday night revealed shocking lapses in the security system.
Policemen were found sleeping on roadside beds, completely unaware of what was happening around, while their superiors were found resting in their official vehicles.
