3 successive blasts disrupt art festival in Lahore
It injured 3 people and damaged buildings around the stadium area.

Lahore: Successive blasts went off in the Punjab Institute of Language near the Gaddafi Stadium in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore on Saturday night.

Accoriding to a Pakistani media reports, there were at least three blasts which injured at least three people and damaged buildings around the stadium area.

The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital. The blast occurred when a music show was underway in the nearby complex.

Police have cordoned off the area and the investigations are underway.

The first two blasts occurred shortly after 2230 hours (IST) outside the Al-hamra arts council and the third occurred after a short-while outside the near-by Gaddafi stadium while police were evacuating people from the area.

Interior ministry Chief Rehman Malick told reporters the blasts were caused by improvised explosive devices. He said an inquiry had been ordered into the attack.

The organisers of the World Performing Arts Festival being held at the Al-hamra arts council earlier said they had received an anonymous threat to stop the event.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the blasts.
