HYDERABAD: The Health Management Research Institute- 104 Call Centre Contract Employees Union (CCCEU) have demanded chief minister N Kiran Reddy to roll back the decision to end collaboration with the HMRI for the 104 services by September 30.Speaking at a protest conducted by the 104-CCCEU employees in front of the chief minister’s house at Begumpet on Thursday, P Rama Krishna, president of the union, demanded continuation of their service under the Arogyasri Health Care Trust.“About 1,000 employees will lose their livelihood if the state government ends its collaboration with the HMRI,” said Rama Krishna and added their two months salaries had not been paid by the government.The employees said the government which is planning to merge the Arogyasri and 104 helpline might not take the existing 1,000 employees as the Arogyasri administration had not said anything about taking the call centre employees and they would only take 300 new people.Rama Krishna said the chief minister assured them he would examine the issue before the September 30 deadline before taking decisions.The employees also met TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at the TDP Bhavan who extended to the employees.Naidu observed on one hand the chief minister promised to create 15 lakh jobs while those working in the 104 service would be rendered jobless.The HMRI-104 call centres, set up in 2007, with 95 per cent government funds, handles over 50,000 nonemergency calls every day.
