United give up the chase for Baines
United's decision of pulling out was finalised due to the Mersyside club's unwillingness to sell the 28-year-old.

After Manchester United were unsuccessful in their opening bid worth £10million for Everton defender Leighton Baines, the 20-time EPL winners have ended their pursuit of the full-back.

The Express reports the pull out was finalised because the Mersyside club is showing no interest in selling the 28-year-old.

It has been believed from talks between the two clubs' authorities that Everton are adamant on their standpoint and it is unlikely that it will change.

If United's hunt for Baines indeed comes to a halt, it is understood that the English international will stick to Goodison Park and sign a new contract.
