Team India has pulled off a brilliant start to the T20I home series against Afghanistan. The youngsters of the Indian team deserve much credit for the commanding six-wicket victory in the opening game. The Rohit Sharma-led side hopes to continue the winning momentum in the upcoming game to seal the series.
India and Afghanistan will go head-to-head for the second T20I on January 14, with the Holkar Stadium in Indore hosting the contest at 7 PM IST on Sunday. Afghanistan will be desperate to turn the tables in the Indore fixture in a bid to keep their hopes alive in the three-match competition.
India bowled first in the opening T20I and managed to restrict Afghanistan to a paltry total of 158 runs. Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar picked two wickets each while Shivam Dube got one under his belt. India failed to make a positive start to the chase as skipper-opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a duck.
Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma made some crucial contributions before Dube appeared at his devastating best. The young middle-order batter slammed a quickfire fifty, scoring 60 off 40 balls. The upcoming batters – Jitesh Sharma and Rinku Singh got the remaining job done, with India reaching the target with more than two overs in hand.
