Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis as well his Prince Harry’s father, King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, has shaken the royal family and royal experts believe that these health issues may draw the estranged brothers and spouses together.
Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, his and Markle’s Netflix docudrama and their interview with Oprah Winfrey led to drama and controversy in the royal family, creating divisions between the members.
“William and Kate are really nervous that whether Harry comes alone or with Meghan there are going to be difficulties and a great deal of planning is going on to try to reduce all the inevitable awkwardness and embarrassment—one plan being looked is to let the brothers appear in public for a short period to try to show they can at least be civil to each other,” royal expert and author Tom Quinn was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
A separate report by the Daily Beast said that Prince Harry’s arrival may lead to a new drama which his elder brother and sister-in-law may not want because they have made it clear that they want “peace and quiet for them and the kids”.
Kate Middleton has shocked the world and her fans and well-wishers by revealing that she was undergoing ‘preventative chemotherapy’ for cancer following abdominal surgery in January last month in a video message.
The announcement came weeks after King Charles III announced his own cancer diagnosis.
Harry and Meghan have sent supporting messages and have stood beside the family. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” wrote Harry and Meghan.
A separate report by Livemint citing royal author Christopher Andersen suggested that despite the outreach by Harry, his elder brother William has preferred to maintain silence. “(He does not have) time or the emotional bandwidth to try and make nice with the brother he believes betrayed not only him but the entire royal family,” Andersen said.
