Watch: Chhattisgarh Teacher Enters School With Alcohol Bottle; Internet Shocked

A widespread outrage has sparked after a video of a teacher entering school with a bottle of liquor has gone viral. The incident took place at a government school in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district. The video begins with a man, who is said to be a teacher at the government school and identified as Santosh Kewat. He is then being confronted about carrying a bottle of alcohol in his pocket which is very much visible. An unfazed Kewat admits that he drinks daily and says, “Koi dikkat (Is that a problem?).”

The person questioning him goes on to add, “This behaviour is unacceptable inside a school premises. The students are watching you.”

Soon, Kewat can be seen leaving his bike outside the school and entering the staff room. Without paying heed to the fellow teachers, Kewat states, “I’ll come late, it’s my wish.” He then sits on a chair, displays his alcohol bottle on a table and insists on the person behind the lens to capture the scene.

The video has been shared by a journalist on X (formerly Twitter), who urged internet users to keep reposting the clip till the teacher is terminated from his service. He went on to accuse the Kewat for ‘playing with children’s future’.

“Keep doing ‘Repost’ until fired. This teacher is ‘playing’ with children’s futures by openly drinking alcohol in school. Video of teacher ‘Santosh Kewat’ in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh goes viral.” The teacher asks the person questioning him to mind his own business,” the person wrote in the caption.

The video went viral in no time with social media users reacting to the indecent incident. Tagging Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, a user urged for strict action. He noted, “Dear CM @vishnudsai, Edu Minister @brijmohan_ag, kindly take strict action here. Our schools are the cornerstone of education. Dismissing this teacher would set a necessary precedent and ensure our children receive the quality education they deserve.”

A person chimed in, “Shame on this man.. Don’t want to call him a “teacher”.. God knows how long this has been going on with him and how many students had to bear the brunt of being taught by a teacher reeling under the effect of alcohol.” Another comment read, “This type of teacher must be terminated from jobs.”

It is yet to be seen what action the authorities take against the unruly teacher.
