Accessorising mobile phones has become quite the trend these days. From blingy and squishy phone covers to various pop sockets, people are keeping themselves abreast of the newest trends. The need to look unique and trendy has led many people to resort to buying eccentric things. One woman bought such a phone cover that even PETA got quite “bugged” and reacted to the clip.
Many like to paint their mobile covers all shades of glitter or opt for nail polishes, while others often go all out and decorate their smartphones with squishy materials or add secret pockets for stashing cash. However, a recent video will leave you shocked where a woman seems to have her ant farm inside her mobile case. As the ants move around in the maze built inside the transparent cover, she can be seen going about her day casually. The clip begins with a lady dressed in a white sleeveless top and jeans sitting on a bench and talking to someone on her smartphone. As the camera zooms in, you will be able to spot ants moving inside her iPhone’s cover. The in-text read, “This woman has an ant farm as her phone case”.
The caption read, “Why? The video has grabbed 13 million views on Instagram. PETA reacted to the clip and wrote, “If those ants are real, we’re buggin’. Can’t believe we have to say this, but please keep ants out of your phone cases.” Another wrote, “Not a leftist, but that’s animal abuse. Not only (do) phones get quite warm while using them the sun warms them up fast as well.” One chimed in, “Unnecessary cruelty is ick”, while another remarked, “The things people do for attention.”
An ant farm is also called a formicarium, specially designed to study the behaviour of ant colonies and understand keeping ants as pets. These ants are offered food and ample ventilation is provided to ensure their safety.
