Llancaiach Fawr Manor in Trelewis has been meticulously restored and furnished to reflect life in 1645. Staff members fully immerse visitors by acting as though they’re living in the 1600s.
According to Visit Wales, visitors are transported back to the 17th Century upon stepping inside Llancaiach Fawr Manor. They’ll encounter characters such as Edward Prichard, the master of the house and his wife Mistress Mary Prichard, along with the ever-present servants and occasional visitors like the barber surgeon. An exhibition within the manor narrates the tale of the Prichard family and their servants through the artefacts they left behind.
A touch table offers interactive games for young visitors keen on delving deeper into the lives of the servants. Additionally, ghost tours, catering to those intrigued by the house’s eerie history, are conducted during the winter months from October to December.
Numerous former residents, staff members and countless visitors have reported eerie experiences at the manor and those daring enough can attempt to witness similar phenomena during the specialised tours. The manor has been featured on episodes of the TV show Most Haunted, as well as other spooky TV programs and YouTube videos. For those less interested in ghosts and preferring to explore the manor in daylight, dining options abound, including a well-liked afternoon tea menu. Additionally, guests can indulge in three-course Sunday lunches and choose from a variety of snacks, hot meals and homemade cakes available on the café menu.
