This Game Of Cricket Requires Players To Swim For Runs
The undated video demonstrating ‘Swimket’ looks like it was deliberately made for fun.

When one thinks of the skills required to play cricket, one imagines proficiency in running, top-notch hand-eye coordination, and hyper-quick reflexes. However, now a viral video shows how to play ‘Swimket’. A player would require to be a swimmer to play this game. The undated video shows a group of boys playing cricket in a natural surroundings that had a shallow waterbody nearby. The batters are surprisingly standing in between what appears to be a running water stream. Once the batter hits the ball, both batters rush towards each other to score runs. However, instead of running on plain ground, they jump into the water to cross over to the other wicket. One of the batsmen is about to reach his spot but he is promptly run out. The background commentary announces that ‘India’ won the match.

It appears that this video was deliberately staged and shot for fun instead of being a real game. This clip was captioned. “We should add this Cricket + Swimming sport in olympics calling it Swimket. This is brilliant." So far it has gathered hundreds of likes since it was posted on February 5. It is unclear when and where this clip was taken.

An X user described this game as, “Swimket: a genius combo in motion!" Another observed, “For this cricket format, you must be an Olympic champion in swimming." An X user sarcastically commented, “This kind of thought process activates my thought process of questioning the thought process of my amazing fellow citizens. And I always end up being depressed."

This is not the only cricket video that has amused the internet users. A few months ago, a clip from a local cricket match held in Ritghar village of Panvel, a city in Maharashtra, went viral as it captured a hilarious comedy of errors that took place while a fieldman tried to chase a ball.

The viral video showed a fielder managing to catch a ball just before it hit the boundary. However, as he prepares to pass the ball to his teammate, he falls down and the ball hits his shoe and goes back to the boundary. Despite the failed efforts, people were impressed with the unnamed player’s relentless efforts to catch the ball. This video was first posted on YouTube by a channel called Saipreet Live, which covers local cricket contests in Maharashtra, but it soon began circulating across social media platforms.
