As the monsoon fury has started gripping the country, various parts of Maharashtra have been receiving heavy showers, bringing a respite from the heat. However, this has brought back woes for Mumbai City and its suburbs due to multiple cases of waterlogging in several areas. As the city grapples with severe weather conditions and waterlogged roads, the Mumbai Police has taken note and shared effective ‘monsoon driving tips’ for daily commuters.
On Wednesday, the Mumbai Police shared an Instagram post outlining the must-dos for safe and smooth driving to pass the monsoon rain check. From urging car owners to monitor their vehicles’ functioning, brakes, horns, wiper blades and other systems to asking them to follow certain rules when driving in rain, the guidelines make sure to encourage safe and responsible driving to avoid any sort of accident or mishap.

Following Are the Provided Monsoon Driving Tips:
1. Ensure the horn is functional for emergency situations.
2. Clean and check the car’s ventilation system.
3. Park away from trees to avoid falling branches on vehicles.
4. Check and replace the car’s air filter as needed.
5. Regularly inspect and renew windshield wiper blades.
6. Monitor and maintain the car’s exhaust system for efficiency.
7. Monitor and adjust tyre pressure regularly.
8. Use headlights in heavy rain for better visibility.
9. Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
10. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration.
11. Prevent corrosion by maintaining the car’s underbody.
Mumbai Weather Update
Heavy overnight rains lashed several parts of Mumbai, disrupting the daily lives of people. Accompanied by winds reaching up to 60 kmph, it has also resulted in waterlogging, train delays, uprooted trees and overflowing water bodies. Schools and colleges in Raigad and Thane districts have been declared closed.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a nowcast warning, stating that isolated pockets can receive intense to very intense spells over the next 3–4 hours on Thursday. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, has issued a yellow alert for the city, while an orange alert has been issued for Thane, Palghar, Pune, Kolhapur, Raigad and others.
Meanwhile, Mumbai people woke up to traffic congestion and slow vehicular movement on Thursday morning, videos of which have gone viral.
