Man Ends Marriage After Wife Demands Rs 1,200 For Physical Contact. Wait, What?
The couple hit a rough patch when a Taiwanese man's wife limited their intimacy and a few years later started "charging" him.

In Taiwan, a man named Hao is making headlines after filing for divorce from his wife, Xuan, due to her unusual demands and harsh treatment. The couple, who married in 2014, hit a rough patch three years later when Xuan “limited their intimacy.” By 2019, the situation worsened, as she refused any physical contact and even told Hao’s family he was “too fat” and

“incompetent.” In 2021, Hao tried to end their marriage but later withdrew the lawsuit when his wife promised to improve their relationship. He even transferred their property into her name. However, things took a bizarre twist as Xuan reportedly returned to her old ways and started demanding NT$500 (approximately Rs 1200) each time he wanted to get physical or even have a conversation with her.

This time, Hao’s frustration reached its peak, which led him to file for divorce for a second time this year. According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the couple had stopped talking to each other for two years and only communicated through a messaging app. They even tried marriage counselling, but it didn’t help. During the divorce proceedings, the judge granted the divorce, stating that their marriage was “cold and difficult to fix.” In a surprising turn of events, Xuan opposed the divorce and appealed to a higher court, but her request was turned down.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first case, as earlier, in 2014, a wife began charging her husband NT$2,000 (approximately Rs 5,000) for s** and even set fees for talking and meals. She justified this by claiming her husband, a truck driver, did not contribute financially to the family. The children also demanded payment from their father if he wanted to have a conversation with them. The situation escalated when the police were involved, as the man agreed to pay NT$20,000 (approximately Rs 51,000) a month to meet these demands.

In another surprising case, a Chinese couple caught social media’s attention for splitting their expenses evenly during their two decades of marriage. They went Dutch on everything, from furniture to side dishes at restaurants. When the husband sued his wife for 110,000 yuan (approximately Rs 12 Lakh), claiming she should have covered half of the bills, the court dismissed his claim.
