The pandemic has dramatically reshaped our lives, making working from home (WFH) a new norm for many companies and their employees. While WFH offers numerous benefits such as skipping the commute and enjoying the comfort of home, one man’s humourous comparison to the Korean survival drama Squid Game has caught the attention of social media users.
On X (formerly Twitter), he shared his thoughts, stating WFH is a “dream” when you have your apartment in metro cities like Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, particularly with a partner around. However, he wittingly pointed out that the situation drastically changes when living with parents, comparing it to “a whole new level of Squid Game.”
“WFH is a dream when you’ve got your own cozy little apartment in a city like Bangalore, Mumbai, or even Delhi, especially with your partner by your side. But WFH while living with your parents? That’s a whole new level of Squid Game,” the user wrote on X.
For those who aren’t familiar with Squid Game, it is a thrilling series about a secret competition. In the show, contestants, facing serious financial difficulties, risk their lives by playing dangerous children’s games for a chance to win a big cash prize.

“WFH leaves no boundaries between your personal and professional space IMO. It gets so difficult to compartmentalise life in this arrangement and productivity gets fragmented trying to juggle between personal and professional responsibilities,” one user pointed out.

Another emphasised the importance of respecting parents, writing “Please don’t demonize your parents just to appear cool in social media. It’s because of their sacrifices that you have the luxury of having the skills of wfh and also that a partner has liked you. Parents are not your buddies, respect them and treat them with dignity please.”
