In an urban-Indian household, the day the housemaid or the house help doesn’t show up unannounced is the perfect definition of a “bad day” for most people. We all are dependent on our house for the smooth sailing of our everyday lives. Recently, a Hyderabad man’s kind gesture towards his house help has gone viral on the internet. The man took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a heartwarming story about his house help. He encouraged and helped her to purchase a bicycle to commute.
In the viral video, the house help can be seen riding a pink bicycle in the parking area. The post was shared by an X user named @TopDriverIndia (Naresh). The user wrote a long note describing the situation of the house help, “My cook Neeraja, walks 25 minutes each way to work. She works another 2 homes too. She spends almost 1.5 to 2 hours commuting daily by walk.” He further added, ” Inspired by @sselvan (Santhana Selvan) I encouraged her to cycle. Her initial response was that everybody in her neighbourhood would laugh and tease her. After a few months of thinking over she agreed. I sponsored half she put half and today she is riding her pink bicycle to work.”
Naresh concluded the post and wrote, “Her journey time is cut down to 5-7 minutes each way!” Naresh’s kind gesture and decision to help Neeraja improve her daily commute. Naresh’s kind gesture made Neeraja’s life easier and empowered her to embrace a sustainable and efficient mode of transportation.

People loved Naresh’s kind gesture towards Neeraja and flooded the comments section with sweet reactions. “That’s awesome! Tell Neeraja I said she’s a trendsetter now. Plus, she gets to flaunt that pink bicycle!” wrote a user. “Please gift her a bicycle helmet as well. Looks like you care for her,” commented a second. “Wow. Such a nice gesture” expressed a third.
