A journalist who had to catch an early morning flight from Delhi’s T3 terminal was shocked to see the chaos at the airport. She alleged that it was the second time in a few days she had encountered ‘snaking queues’ at the security check at Delhi airport. The journalist also noted that the situation was equally problematic regardless of whether passengers were using the DigiYatra facility or not.

“Early morning flights from Delhi T3 a nightmare! 2nd time in a few days-crawling snaking queues- DigiYatra or non-DigiYatra (am here) doesn’t matter. Entered at 5am, still only half way through the queue. Security check now takes anywhere between 30-60 mins for domestic flights,” wrote the journalist on the microblogging platform.

Since being shared, the video has garnered over 50,000 views and still counting. Many even left comments on the video. Journalist Nidhi Razdan expressed shock at the situation. She wrote, “This is insane.” To this, Sharma replied, “Don’t ask! Took 50 mins plus to finally make it through. Panicked foreigners had to jump queues. And one uncle decided to give a call for foreigners to go back instead of asking the government why the first tier security check has been handed over to the private security agency by the government!”

Another added, “The week before Independence day in Delhi is always like this due to increased security checks. Nothing wrong.” Sharma replied to this X user as well and wrote, “Not sure about you but I have been living in Delhi for the last 22 years and am a frequent flyer. This was the same situation a week ago too when I had tweeted. Kindly don’t preach without basis.”
“Agree with you, early morning flights are a nightmare,” expressed a third.
A fourth commented, “It’s the same in the afternoon hours as well. On August 9, it took me straight 1.5 hrs at the security check. It’s so chaotic, there were no tables to take the gadgets out and place them on the tray forcing almost everyone to sit on the floor.”
