An incident came to light from a restaurant called La Dolce Vita in Scotland. The restaurant staff had exposed a couple who fled from their venue without paying a Rs 8700 bill.
The attendants of the restaurant unveiled that the diners had scammed them by leaving their purses on the restaurant seat which made the attendants think that they went for a smoke. The attendants have also shared CCTV footage where they discovered that the diners were walking off in separate directions. The restaurant has unveiled that the couple had ended up making a large bill after ordering a starter for each, three main course dishes, and two desserts.
The restaurant attendants also unveiled that after finishing their food, the couple said they were going to have a smoke outside. The woman left her purse inside the restaurant as a sign that they would return to clear the bill. When the restaurant staff realised that the couple had been gone for a long time, they investigated the matter and quickly realised that the purse was empty after opening it.
This situation made the staff annoyed and angry and they contacted the police to report the theft. As of now, no arrests have been made about the crime. A spokesperson for Police Scotland mentioned that on October 20, around 5:45 pm on Sunday, the police received a report of theft from premises in the Main Street area of East Kilbride, and inquiries into the circumstances are at an early stage.
In a similar scenario, another incident came to light when a family of eight made headlines for leaving a restaurant without paying their bill of approximately Rs 34,000, resulting in a police complaint being filed against them. The incident occurred when a UK-based restaurant named Bella Ciao Swansea shared a post on their official Facebook handle. Sharing the CCTV footage, they wrote, “To the family who left the restaurant this evening without paying their bill of Rs 34,000. Shame on you.”
