Actress Shubhangi Atre has managed to entertain audiences with her comic portrayal in the popular sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai. She has been highly praised for her role as Angoori Bhabhi, and the makers have time and again introduced new plotlines to keep the viewers engaged. The latest plot revolves around Angoori Bhabi transforming into a beautiful courtesan, Begum Anara. Shubhangi shared insights into her preparation for this new role and revealed that her inspiration has an intriguing connection to Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Shubhangi Atre shared that Manisha Koirala’s role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Heeramandi was a major inspiration for her. She stated, “Her portrayal was nothing short of mesmerising, and it gave me inspiration for the layers and nuances of playing a courtesan. Manisha Ji’s performance was both powerful and graceful, and I aimed to bring a touch of that same elegance and intensity to Begum Anara, albeit with a humorous twist,” as quoted by Spotboye.

Sharing about the impact the role has had on her, the actress shared that playing such a multifaceted character reminded her why she enjoys acting so much. “It’s not only about delivering lines; it’s about embodying a persona that makes the audience happy and laugh. “ she said.

Further, the role helped her understand the versatility of the craft and how humour can transcend genres and bring joy to everyone.

Speaking about the new role and sharing details in the current track, Shubhangi stated, “I always enjoy doing something new and exciting. Thanks to the show, I always get to try different things and experiment with my looks. In the current track, the viewers can see me as Begum Anara, who is lovesick. Playing Begum Anara has been a fun experience for me. I must say, slipping into those vibrant costumes and adorning myself with traditional jewellery was a royal feeling.”

The actress also mentioned how her fans showered her with praise when she posted pictures of her new look on social media.
