Bigg Boss Fame VJ Andy Reveals Battling Eating Disorder: 'Was Anorexic For 5 Years'

The premiere of Bigg Boss 17 is just around the corner and viewers are already eager to witness the new twists the brand new season has in store. Amid this, former Bigg Boss contest VJ Andy, who was one of the top five finalists of the seventh season, has candidly spoken about his battle with body-image issues. During an interaction with ETimes, Andy Kumar recalled the time he was constantly anxious about his looks. The VJ, who has also built a good reputation as a host on the small screen, explains feeling this urgent need to get accepted in the showbiz world. The insecurities began seemingly because VJ Andy was quite large while growing up.

“There is definitely a lot of stress. I actually went through a lot of eating disorders when I was younger to look a certain shape,” he said. At one point in life, the VJ weighed about 126 kgs which he eventually brought under control but at the cost of being anorexic for five years. According to him, being overweight in the industry is looked down upon and hence he would constantly feel the pressure of making himself presentable. “I suffered from an eating disorder. I was anorexic for about five years. I lost a lot of weight and reached a point where I had to be admitted to the hospital,” he added.

If that wasn’t enough, VJ Andy also confessed to suffering from body dysmorphia issues. The television personality claims he had to reflect on himself and find a way to give love to his body and fortunately, over the years he has mastered doing so.

This comes at a time when host Salman Khan has already “Swag Se Karenge Sab Ka Swagat” in the brand new promo of Bigg Boss 17. Looking dapper in a red jacket and denim jeans, the superstar can be seen dancing inside the house to his popular songs including Humka Peeni Hai and Chori Chori Chupke Se.
