Uttar Pradesh: Rahul sharpens attack on Mulayam
Rahul Gandhi alleged that leaders in UP do not talk about poverty, they only talk about caste and religion.

Badaun: Sharpening his attack on Mulayam Singh Yadav on the SP leader's home turf, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday questioned his anti-English and anti-computers stance saying that the former Chief Minister had got his son learn both but said poor don't need it.

"Mulayam Singh Yadav says there is no need of English and Computers but he got his son Akhilesh learn English. He can also use computers but for the poor there is not need for it. Can't they learn it? It is their right also," Gandhi said at a public meeting here on the second day of his five day visit.

Addressing a series of meetings in the areas considered as the stronghold of the Samajwadi Party, Gandhi pointedly targeted the Muslim votebank questioning whether the minorities were getting benefits in Uttar Pradesh as the state government was not willing to work.

He alleged that leaders in UP do not talk about poverty, they only talk about caste and religion.

"The leaders don't say remove poverty; give employment and food to people. They are only concerned on how to plunder," he alleged.

"Mulayam Singh Yadav came to power, talked about a caste and left...Mayawati came, talked about a caste and she will also leave, but what will happen to the state's development." Rahul said adding that the state needs a government which works for it and promised to give such a government if given the chance.
