New Delhi: Congress on Friday kept up the suspense on its stand over the move to bring a no confidence motion against Mayawati government in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Monday, saying an 'appropriate decision' will be
taken by the party's legislature body.
"The Congress Legislature Party will take an appropriate decision," was the response of AICC spokesperson Rashid Alvi when asked about plans of the Opposition SP and BJP about such a motion in the backdrop of the ruling BSP's decision to bring a proposal for dividing the state into four parts.
The Mayawati government has already announced that it will bring the proposal for division of the state in the coming session, a move which has been dubbed as an election stunt by the opposition parties.
Samajwadi Party and BJP have announced their plans for bringing a no-confidence motion against the BSP government, accusing Mayawati of pushing the state on the brink of disaster, deteriorating law and order situation and rampant corruption.
This is expected to be the last session of the Assembly of the state government's term before elections next year.
